Pre-Code Covers In New IDW Coloring Book

Article ImageWho out there remembers the spinner racks at the convenience stores? If you were a kid, it was the only other thing in the store that held your interest other than the candy isle. Copies of Richie Rich comics, Archie, Batman, the Fantastic Four, and (oh yeahhhhhh) creepy horror books like Unexpected were the source for hours of entertainment...and shock. Odds are that many of you that grew up in this generation also bought and received your share of coloring books, too, as computers weren't in the house, so we didn't have Photoshop or paint programs.

Well, IDW Publishing got the idea to cross the streams, and has put out the Haunted Horror Pre-Code Coloring Book Volume 1 (SEP150490) for those old schoolers who yearn to go "back in the day" when so much fun was available unplugged. It's a neat idea. And get this: the pictures that can be colored are pre-code horror comic book covers that were rendered by the great ones like Frank Frazetta, Wally Wood, L.B. Cole, Dick Briefer, Don Heck, Lee Elias, Bob Powell, Howard Nostrand and others. Nearly 60 gruesome, gross, and macabre covers are yours to color, scan, and post however you please on your social media sites....or hang on your refrigerator. This year, parents need to tell their kids this is what THEY want for the holidays!

The Haunted Horror Pre-Code Coloring Book Volume 1 (SEP150490) is available in comic shops February 3.
