1,001 ARABIAN NIGHTS: THE ADVENTURES OF SINBAD #0

You know how I was first introduced to the story of Sinbad? It was 1981, and I was sitting on the floor of my living room, fully engrossed in episode #518 of The Muppet Show, starring Kermit the Frog as the swashbuckling sailor-turned-surfer. The best part of their “1,001 Arabian Nights” send-up was when Fozzie Bear yelled, “Open Sesame!” and unleashed the whole cast of Sesame Street’s lovable and goofy creatures on the stage. I blew milk and snot out of my nose. My father spanked me and I was sent to sit in my bedroom in the dark, with nothing but the tiny red light from my Star Wars X-Wing fighter to fend off the monsters. Good times…

Thankfully, Zenescope Entertainment is bringing back Sinbad and the 1,001 Arabian Nights, but this time without the accompanying childhood trauma that resulted in years of therapy and a lifelong fear of mops.  Wokka wokka wokka!

When you look at Grimm Fairy Tales and Return to Wonderland, you can immediately tell what Zenescope does best — they revitalize the fantastic stories and adventures of yesteryear into the hip, clever, and unpredictable comic book series of today.  There’s really no creative property better suited for just such an update than 1,001 Arabian Nights: The Adventures of Sinbad! And with the low introductory price of only .99 cents — well, it’s a good thing you won’t have to wait 1,001 nights to get your hands on it!
