Diamond Announces Top Products for February 2018

(BALTIMORE, MD) — (March 9, 2018) — The Dark Knights of the Dark Multiverse scour the cosmos, seeking the unlikely heroes who threaten their power in DC Entertainment's Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt #1, a Dark Nights: Metal tie-in from a Scott Snyder, Grant Morrison, and an all-star line-up of creators that was February 2018's best-selling comic book according to information provided by Diamond Comic Distributors, the world's largest distributor of comics, graphic novels, and pop culture merchandise.
Marvel Comics was February's top publisher with a 34.86% retailer dollar share and a 36.94% unit share. DC Entertainment was second for the month with a 31.79% dollar share and a 36.61% unit share. Image Comics was third with a 10.49% dollar share and an 10.82% unit share. In fourth was IDW Publishing with a 3.58% dollar share and a 2.63% unit share, followed by Dark Horse Comics with a 2.85% dollar share and a 1.68% unit share, Dynamite Entertainment with a 2.40% dollar share and a 2.29% unit share, and BOOM! Studios with a 2.37% dollar share and a 2.12% unit share.
DC Entertainment had four comics in the top ten. In addition to Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt #1, Batman #40 ranked #3, Batman #41 ranked #4, and Batman: White Knight #5 ranked #6. Marvel Comics had five titles in the top ten, led by Tom Taylor and Mahmud A. Asrar's X-Men Red #1 at #2, followed by Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #300 at #7, Star Wars #43 at #8, Infinity Countdown Prime #1 at #9, and Amazing Spider-Man #796 at #10. Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #176 from Image Comics ranked #5 for the month. Also among the premier publishers, Dynamite Entertainment's Dejah Thoris #1 ranked #118 for the month; BOOM! Studios' Jim Henson's Labyrinth: Coronation #1, based on the cult favorite film, was the publisher's top book at #119; IDW Publishing's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #162 was their selling-book for February at #162; and Dark Horse Comics' Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. 1955: The Burning Season One-Shot ranked #164.
Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples' Saga Volume 8 from Image Comics was February's best-selling graphic novel. Marvel Comics had four titles in the top ten, led by Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Volume 2 at #2, followed by Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu at #5, The Despicable Deadpool Volume 1: Deadpool Kills Cable at #7, and Astonishing X-Men Volume 1: The Life of X at #9. DC Entertainment also had four titles in the top ten: DC Meets Looney Tunes at #3, Teen Titans Volume 2: The Rise of Aqualad at #4, Justice League Volume 5: Legacy at #6, and Titans Volume 3: A Judas Among Us at #8. Rounding out the top ten, Dark Horse Comics' Neil Gaiman's American Gods Volume 1: Shadows ranked #10.
VIZ Media's Pokémon Seek and Find: Pikachu, an all-ages activity book based on the popular franchise, was February's best-selling book. Also in the top ten, Dark Horse Comics' Overwatch Anthology Volume 1, a collection of online comics and behind-the-scenes materials from the video game, ranked #6.
Based on Blizzard Entertainment's immensely popular team shooter video game, Good Smile's Overwatch: Mercy "Classic Skin" Nendoroid was February's best-selling toy product. DC Collectibles had two products in the top ten: the Harley Quinn: Red White & Black by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau Statue ranked #2 and the DC Designer Series: Aquaman & Mera by Pat Gleason Statue ranked #4. Diamond Select Toys also had two products in the top ten: the Marvel Premier Collection: Venom Statue ranked #3 and the Marvel Gallery: Spider-Man Homecoming: Spider-Man PVC Figure, based on the blockbuster film, ranked #8. Also of note, two PREVIEWS exclusive Funko items placed in the month's top ten: the POP! Hellboy: Hellboy with Excalibur Vinyl Figure ranked #5 and the POP! Rides: Marvel Comics: Classic Ghost Rider with Bike Glow-in-the-Dark Vinyl Figure ranked #7.
Adventure awaits tabletop gamers at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in the WizKids/NECA's Marvel HeroClix: X-Men: Xavier's School Booster Brick, the best-selling game product of February. Also among the top ten was IDW Games with Roar: King of the Pride at #10 for the month.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.
Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which includes the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from sales made to thousands of comic book specialty shops located inNorth Americaand around the world. Additional sales made to online merchants and other specialty retailers may be included as well.
Unit and dollar market shares are calculated based upon orders for comic books, graphic novels, and magazines invoiced and shipped to Diamond customers during any given month, which comprises pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable. Please note that comics marked with an asterisk (*) have had their reported quantities reduced due to retailer returnability, and thus may rank lower on the charts than their actual sales would reflect.
The New Titles Count Chart includes all titles that were invoiced by Diamond to retailers for the first time during the month and is not the official solicited title count for the month. Variant edition comic books and graphic novels at the same price point count as a single SKU. Variant edition comic books, lenticular covers, digital combo packs, and graphic novels at different price points count as separate SKUs for each edition.
